Our 2012 Pyrenees Smiddy Challenge was a huge success so we’re off to France again…this time to the high mountains of the French Alps. You’ll ride the classic climbs of the Tour de France, fully supported by an experienced tour operator.
Here’s a snapshot of your challenge:
- 700 kilometre, 5 stage route
- 10,000+ metres of climbing
- Tour classics such as Alpe D’Huez, Col du Galibier, Col de la Madeleine, Col du Grand Colombier and many more!
Each day you’ll be dwarfed by the magical Cols in the French Alps and challenged by a spectacular route designed exclusively for our tour.
Our French Alps Challenge will raise funds to support research into melanoma, breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. By participating in this tour you will be making a significant contribution to the work of researchers as they undertake potentially life-saving research into the causes, prevention and improved treatments of cancer.

Held in memory of Adam Smiddy, who passed away to an aggressive cancer aged 26, Smiling for Smiddy delivers inspired challenge events which engage individuals & communities to raise funds for cancer research. More than $3 million has been raised since 2006. Mater Foundation is major beneficiary with funds supporting world-class research in areas such as melanoma, prostate, breast and ovarian cancers as well as complementary therapies for cancer patients.
