Well, it's all starting to feel pretty real. "Apprehensive" would perhaps describe it best. I had a grim recollection of how long the DRIVE was from Townsville last year. Eeek!

Sunday saw more than 60 Smiddy riders punch through an intro training ride of 100km. Though I was apparently technically disqualified for a sneaky departure from the group in West End (two km from the intended finish line, but 20 metres from the comfort of my couch) it was still a top ride.

2012 Bottlemart Smiddy Challenge for Smiling for Smiddy

Held in memory of Adam Smiddy, who passed away to an aggressive cancer aged 26, Smiling for Smiddy delivers inspired challenge events which engage individuals & communities to raise funds for cancer research. More than $2 million has been raised since 2006.

Mater Foundation is major beneficiary with funds supporting world-class research in areas such as melanoma, prostate cancer and complementary therapies for cancer patients.
